DON'T BE A SLAVE OF PEOPLE

I have realized from personal experience and by careful observation that one of the most severe bondages a Christian can find himself under is not bondage to demons and evil spirits but bondage to people.

This kind of bondage is subtle and even enslaves more than demonic bondage. Many Christians, including servants of the most High God have even found themselves unknowingly in this kind of bondage.

If you are serious about living a fruitful life as a Christian, if you are serious about enjoying peace of mind as a Child of God, it is very important that you make up your mind never to do anything for the sake of impressing anyone but God.

Let me be honest with you; you can't even really impress God in the real sense of it.

The truth is that God is already pleased with you as His child. He takes pleasure in you. He is extremely delighted in you. His love for you is not based on your perfect performance but on His perfect personality.

God's love for you is constant and not variable. This is enough to give you a sense of security.

Whatever you do as a child of God must only be for God's pleasure. He is the one you must strive to please with your actions.

Don't measure the value or importance of what you are doing by people's commendations or condemnations.

Whatever you choose to do; do it to the best of your God-given ability.

Don't base your sense of worth or value on your ability to impress people. The truth is this; you can't impress people all the time.

If people are impressed with what you do, that's fine. And if they are not; it doesn't devalue you or what you have done.

There is nothing wrong with people expressing profound appreciation for the good work you are doing, but don't make getting people's admiration and approval your ultimate goal.

Don't deliberately do anything with the mind of impressing people or making people admire or like you. The danger there is that if you don't get people's praises or commendation, you will become sad, discouraged or even depressed if care is not taken which ought not be the case.

Don't do anything because you want people to like you but because you want to please God.

As a pastor; I don't prepare sermons with the mind that says"Yes, these people must know I have Rhema and that I can teach Revelation. They must take." No way!

I prepare sermons with a mind that is saying, "Lord, what do you have for your people this Sunday?."

As soon as it is Sunday, I just mount the pulpit and do my best.

At times majority of the people may be smiling and nodding their heads in affirmation all through the sermon while there are times it's also possible majority of them may frown their faces all through the sermon as a result of being hit by the teaching they are hearing. Both reactions do not bother me.

As a writer, I don't post on Facebook to get likes and comments but to minister to someone.

I can't count the number of times I have met people in real life who told me, "Man of God, I follow you on Facebook and I'm always blessed by your posts" and the funny thing is that most of these people have never reacted to any of my posts not to talk of making comments.

What I really long to hear are those sweet words from the lips of the master, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Nothing gives me more satisfaction than those words.

Make pleasing the Lord your priority in whatever you do and you will do well. And you will not end up as a slave of people.

Even though some may be telling you, "Na wa for you o!" If God says "You are doing well." Then you are doing well.
