SECURITY CONSCIOUSNESS
Being security conscious can be referred to being in a state to notice discrepancies in the situation of things in the environment. This means noticing people who are behaving strangely or anything out of the ordinary in your environment.
No matter how many police personnel are out on the street or even if you hire a security guard, your personal safety can only be guaranteed by yourself.
There are always unforeseen dangers when you leave your house that may occur at any sudden moment. The best way to TRY and prevent getting caught in dangerous situations is to be security conscious. We can only try our best, God alone can do the safety all. At the o inffice or any working place

– A security guard restricts access of those who can enter and exit the building.

– A surveillance system further keeps an eye on other backdoor entrances to ensure no one is trying to sneak in.

You may not be as safe as you think you are. Being security conscious is just a smart move.

I want use to look at few ways to be security conscious

1. Be informed
Stay informed of the security situation around you. This includes local and national crime.
At the same time, know what’s happening in your local area and outside your area. Are there a rising number of muggings or home robberies happening? By staying informed, you are aware of the potential risks out there.

2. Be Alert
You put the knowledge you have to use by staying alert. Being alert is all about knowing what’s happening in your immediately environment.
GPS Security Guards are specifically trained in this. With a good amount of practice, you can get a hang of it too. Hone your observations skills.
Whenever you enter a room or you are walking on the street, keep your eyes peeled for suspicious activities but not obvious and known to even the closest person standing by you.Always be ready to take your move at any second in time

 3. Have a Plans.
A little planning will help you save time when making decisions and to be conscious.

– Always know the best escape options for you at office, outings, gathering and more.

– Have the emergency numbers on speed dial on your phone.
There some of us that dont even know the usefulness of the speed dial, it is for emergency call to any one. This is one of the secret of the Americans and other countries outside for Safety in any thing, so you can make swift calls if ever the need arises.

 – Know the quickest and safest routes out of your house and any where you find yourself.

 – Be aware of good hiding spots in your office, anywhere and especially at house and if there is non, create one.

4. Be Simple
Avoid attracting attentions, it saves your life. Showing off your Rolex watch or diamond jewelry in public makes you a person worth robbing.
Similarly, be aware when you are using your smartphone or tablet out in the open, be careful of where you chat and make calls.
As much as possible, try not to paint a target on your back, for example your name, your location or so.
The valuable things you show publicly puts you in certain risk.

5. Restrict Access Control.
Whether you’re at home or the office, or any where, restricting entry into the location is one of the best ways to ensure you’re safe. At home, you have several options.
– A keypad door.
This is better than conventional door locks that can be picked.

 – Sensors around other access points like the windows make you aware if any intruder is trying to break in or even anything alarming.

– A guard dog is trained at differentiating the owners of the house and criminals.

Study you environment very well and be use to it so that when there is any change or strange moves and happening, to know wont be difficult

6. Be Unpredictable – Randomness
The enemy while understudying a target looks for consistent patterns in your daily life.
You follow the same route to and from work and while going out is dangerous, you use one password for all your ATM cards, the same taxi cab takes you to work every day or takes your kids to school.
The more predictable you become, the easier it is for the enemy to strike.
They will simply plan an attack based on your predictable patterns of life. If you return from work the same time every day, the enemy can plan an attack at that exact time.
So allow some form of randomness in your life. As they say, the only constant thing in life is change, likewise, try to change some static patterns in your life that can be used as clues by the enemy to strike you.

7. Be Secretive – Talk Less
Been secretive is very good to some point. Don’t share personal information with strangers and not everyone you know you should shear with.
The enemy works with information before striking. The more they know, the more accurate their attack while the less they know, the less accurate their attack.

So how can you protect yourself?
By keeping your mouth shut. Learn not to share private information in public places such as in the bus, church, school or any other public gatherings with on phone or to people while speaking in public.
You never know who is sitting close by eaves dropping on your conversation.
Also when on the phone, don’t call out aloud the amount of money you are discussing. Just by mentioning the amount loudly, anyone around can spread the information to the enemy. Always lower your voice while on the phone!!! especially while discussing business, Location, personal life!!!

8.  Be Accountable – Keep Records
Nothing is missing if there’s no record of its existence. One good way to guard against theft of properties or valuable items is to ensure proper records are kept.
This is especially true if you are away from home or work. Keep track of your money, keep track of your luggage and keep track of your time.
Avoid any unnecessary discussions with strangers who may be using delay tactics to tie you down while the enemy is working. In your business's take accurate stocks of your goods. You can never trust your workers enough and even if you do trust them, how about your customers?
Without closely monitoring your inventory, customers who visit your business premises can make away with your goods.

9. Be Accompanied – Never Walk Alone
Hmmmm.... Many do say they are bold. Alright.
As much as possible, try not to walk alone especially during odd hours. If you are leaving home early to work, make friends with someone else on your street who leaves as early as you do too .
If you come home late from work, and you live in a lonely neighbourhood, ask your family member to meet you up for you mid way. And if you don’t have a family member who can meet you up for you mid way, talk to the local night guard on your street and have them walk you home.

The probability of being attacked when alone is much higher than when you are accompanied. This is why police officers have partners. Despite the fact that they are armed, they are sent out in two and never alone.

10. Be Insured – Securing Your Loss
No matter how security conscious one can be, there are some threats, risk or dangers that are outside your direct control.  These are natural occurrences like fire, flood, tornadoes, accident, etc.
Because they are not man-made, they are hardly prevented. So the only way to minimize threats, risks or dangers caused by nature is to insure your losses. Meaning, insurance is a good security measure.
Even we the providers of security make use of insurance. As long as we stay on earth, it’s important to know that we are always prone to threats, risks and dangers.
Some are avoidable and others aren’t. Rather than lose out completely, insurance was invented to secure our losses.
